The Spanish island of Mallorca is a dream destination to visit with kids.

But with many family-friendly neighborhoods and hotels to sort through, you may need help pinpointing the absolute best places to stay in Mallorca for families.

Fortunately, that’s where this guide comes in.

After exploring the various corners of Mallorca with a baby – from glitzy beachfront resorts to tranquil mountain towns – I’ve compiled the top neighborhoods and family hotels in Mallorca for an unforgettable getaway.

With Mallorca’s varied landscape, travelers have a variety of options when it comes to where to stay. While the island is beloved for its beautiful beaches, Mallorca has plenty to offer beyond the typical resort scene.

The breathtaking Tramuntana mountain towns, for instance, offer families a peaceful escape away from the typical tourist tracks.

Here’s a look at the best Majorcan neighborhoods for families – and accompanying hotels that offer cribs upon request – from the southeast to the northwest.

Cala d’Or is easily one of the best places to stay in Mallorca for families. In fact, I wrote a whole separate post on the top family hotels in Cala d’Or for that very reason! (Be sure to check out that guide when you’re ready to narrow down your accommodations.)

This popular resort town is chock-full of beaches, from under-the-radar coves to sprawling sandy beaches.

There’s also a huge variety of family-friendly restaurants to choose from located right in the heart of town.

I couldn’t have asked for a better first-hotel experience to have with my family than the one we enjoyed at Meliá Cala d’Or Boutique Hotel.

Between the lovely pool set within an idyllic garden oasis (with a separate swim area for the littles), the on-site playground, and the high chairs/cribs offered at no additional charge, it’s one of the best choices for a family getaway in Cala d’Or.

In fact, we saw so many other parents during our stay here – some with children even younger than our six-month-old daughter!

Alua Suites Las Rocas is a great mid-range option for families in Cala d’Or. Kids can swim in the specially designated kiddie pool as well as partake in their very own mini-club for some parent-free entertainment ranging from crafts, to bingo, to disco parties.

Those looking to enjoy some recreation as a family can hit the multi-sports court, enjoy a round of tennis, and/or play volleyball on the beach.

Despite the more upscale vibe in the Cala d’Or area, you don’t have to spend a fortune to stay here. Hotel Calimera Fido Gardens is evidence of that, with budget-friendly accommodations to suit traveling families.

Kids will love gliding down the property’s multiple water slides and kicking around in the splash pool. Tennis and paddle ball are also available in the sports area.

• Peaceful atmosphere away from it all (yet close by car)

Located within the Santanyí district, Portopetro is a traditional and idyllic fishing village. This town – which is hovering around just 500 residents – is perfect for families looking to escape the crowds of more popular resort towns like neighboring Cala d’Or.

While there’s no beaches directly in town, Portopetro offers plenty of other gems for families, from Cala Mondrago National Park to its charming harbor.

While not a hotel in the traditional sense, families seeking luxury in lovely Portopetro will love the exclusivity of Villa Maya. This 7-bedroom/5-bathroom is ideal for larger families, offering plenty of privacy and personal space.

This gorgeous, self-catering villa features a fully-equipped kitchen, a private outdoor pool, a terrace, and even a fireplace for chillier nights.

Surrounded by the comfort of trees, Hotel Playa Mondrago offers everything families need and more in a comfortable, mid-range budget.

The property’s outdoor pool welcomes guests of all ages.

Indoors, there’s a game room area that features board games, puzzles, and table tennis, providing fun for the whole family.

Families can also rent bikes at the hotel to explore more of beautiful Mallorca on two wheels.

Highly-rated for a stay with children, 18-room Aparthotel Niu d’Aus is a budget-friendly condo-hotel-concept in Portopetro.

Families can enjoy two outdoor pools, one of which is specifically designated for kids. There’s also a games room featuring a ping-pong table.

Bike rental services are also available.

• Plenty of green spaces amidst the surrounding city-sphere

• Starting point for the vintage train to Sóller, one of the top family-friendly activities in Mallorca

Palma is the lively capital of Mallorca and, if you’re flying into its international airport, the first spot you’ll hit on the island.  Despite (or perhaps because of!) its busy city atmosphere, it can actually be a great base for a kid-friendly vacation.

Curious young minds will never be idle or bored in this capital city, where there’s Palma Aquarium, Marineland, and museums galore.

Modern and boutique Nakar Hotel is as posh as its rooftop pool, while still being an excellent luxury option for families in Palma. In addition to the rooftop infinity pool, the hotel also offers another outdoor pool.

When it comes to family-friendly amenities, it’s hard to beat Nakar. Connecting family rooms offer additional privacy and are separated by a single door. In addition, the property provides strollers as well as babysitting and child-care services for an additional charge.

Plus, those looking to spend quality time together as a family can rent bicycles on site.

Dedicated to artist Joan Miró, Hotel Joan Miró Musuem is a great 4-star option for families in Palma.

The hotel’s outdoor pool is suitable for all ages and also has a designated section for kids.

In addition, there’s an indoor play area as well as babysitting services available upon request.

A beachside haven for those traveling with kids, Santa Ponsa is perfect for a family getaway, despite something of a reputation for being the nightlife hotspot on the island. Sprawling Santa Ponsa Beach is one of the longest beaches in Mallorca. It’s blanketed in golden sand and even offers pedalos in addition to its sun loungers and umbrellas.

Beyond the beach scene, families can hit Jungle Parc, featuring everything from zip lines to a high-ropes course for the more athletic, adrenaline-driven kiddos.

For the younger ones, Santa Ponsa offers more gentle seaside activities, boating excursions, etc..

5-star Kimpton Aysla Mallorca is a boutique resort that offers luxury and tranquility amidst lush gardens.

This property pulls out all of the stops for families with safety measures like baby-safety gates and child-safe socket covers. There are also childcare services for an additional charge.

In addition, the hotel is home to a whopping four swimming pools – three indoors and one outdoors. While one pool is specifically designated for kids, the other three are also suitable for families traveling with children.

In addition, this 5-star offers an impressive array of off-site activities, from canoeing, to windsurfing, to bingo, to themed dinners.

3-star Hotel Bahia Del Sol is a property that stands behind sustainable tourism practices.

The hotel offers two swimming pools, one outdoors that’s suitable for all ages and one indoors that’s heated.

It also features a kids’ club and a playground for the youngest guests.

For a budget-friendly option, Aparthotel Holiday Center gives families a lot of bang for their buck!

First, the hotel offers two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is suitable for all ages and the other of which is designated for kids.

Little ones can also join the on-site MiniClub to partake in fun activities, workshops, and theme days. In addition, there’s also an on-site playground for outdoor fun as well as board games and puzzles for an indoor diversion.

Strollers are available to rent for the youngest guests.

• Three blue-flag beaches, including calm and shallow Playa de Palmanova, located a short walking distance to restaurants
• Plenty of watersports for the whole family
• Variety of free playgrounds

The perfect locale for an action-packed holiday, Palma Nova (a.k.a Palmanova) offers plenty of fun and excitement for families. In fact, as one of Mallorca’s first tourist-built spots on the island, this resort-town was intentionally built to cater to families and groups of all ages.

In addition to beautiful beaches, Palma Nova offers an array of activities for the family. This includes everything from mini golf to Western Waterpark located in Magaluf, just 10 minutes away on foot.

Zafiro Palace Palmanova provides a fantastic 5-star experience for families with opportunities for both indoor and outdoor play.

Outdoors, there’s a playground as well as three swimming pools, one specifically for adults and the others for all guests.

Indoors, there’s an additional play area and a kids’ club. The hotel’s restaurant also caters to children with their kid-friendly buffet offerings.

Babysitting/childcare is also offered for an additional charge and strollers are available for rent. As well, safety measures are in place with baby-safe gates.

Seramar Hotel Comodoro Playa is a chic, mid-budget beachfront option for families. Family rooms offer a sea view and private balconies.

In addition to an outdoor pool suitable to all ages, there’s also an indoor playroom for the kiddos.

Families will also love the fun themed dinners for an unforgettable dining experience.

For families traveling on a budget, Playas Ca’s Saboners offers ideal condo-hotel accommodations.

There are two outdoor swimming pools, one specifically for kids and the other for all ages to enjoy.

A mini water park, game room, and indoor play area are also available for younger guests.

Located west of Palma, the intimate beach-resort town of Illetas offers a beautiful seaside setting just a short drive from the main action of the city.

While its definitely a beach-focused destination, families can also enjoy Porto Pi shopping center, numerous scenic trails, and a delicious array of restaurants.

Hotel ROC Illetas & Spa is a beachfront 4-star that offers understated luxury for families.

Family rooms offer two rooms for additional privacy as well as sea views and a private balcony.

The property also includes two outdoor pools suitable for all guests as well as board games and puzzles indoors for an awesome family game night.

Bicycle rentals are available at an additional charge.

It may be pushing it a smidge to classify Hotel Bon Sol Resort & Spa as a mid-range option (since it’s veering into luxury territory). That said, I fell head-over-heels for this property (virtually) and I simply had to share!

In fact, I was really close to booking this jungle-oasis of a property for our first family trip to Mallorca.

Ultimately, I only passed over it given its less-than-ideal proximity to my main points of interest.

However, if you’re planning to base yourself in Illetas, by all means, I’d go with this one! (Just be aware that there’s a 3-night stay minimum.)

Families will be in heaven at Hotel Bon Sol. This amazing property has everything from a kids’s club, to a playground, to a game room, to a full-on entertainment staff.

Did I mention there’s also four outdoor pools, two of which are just for the kids?

Situated at the southern tip of the island, Colonia Sant Jordi is renowned for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca, including Playa Es Trenc, Playa Es Dolc, Platja D’es Carbo, Playa Es Port, and more. Unsuprisingly, this is also why the town is known for watersports, which is easily one of the highlights.

Beyond beaches, the town is conducive to biking (particularly mountain biking) and offers numerous restaurants and diverse cuisine.

Located steps from beautiful Es Trenc Beach and Ses Salines salt lakes, Boutiquehotel El Coto offers 5-star accommodations in Colonia Sant Jordi.

There are two swimming pools on site, one outdoors for all ages and an indoor pool just for the adults. There’s also an outdoor children’s area with fun equipment for climbing and playing.

In addition, there are two restaurants that the whole family can enjoy.

Blau Colònia Sant Jordi offers some of the best family-friendly accommodations in Colonia Sant Jordi.

Little ones will have an absolute ball at this 4-star hotel that offers a splash pool with multiple water slides and even a pirate ship.

There are also a range of games and activities offered at the hotel’s kids’ club as well as an outdoor playground.

In addition, babysitting/childcare services and bicycle rentals are offered at an additional charge.

Port d’Alcúdia is practically synonymous with family travel. As the island’s biggest commercial port, it’s easily one of the most kid-friendly resorts on the island, and typically among the first to pop up in a search of best places to stay in Mallorca for families.

When it comes to traveling with the whole gang, Port d’Alcúdia really is the whole package. This resort town features HidroPark, the one-and-only waterpark in Northern Mallorca as well as Amaze’n Laberintos, an aweome maze park for kids. It’s also home to a variety of wild birds and other wetland creatures who live in S’Alburfera Nature Reserve.

Port d’Alcúdia is also chock-full of family-friendly hotels and resorts.

In addition, it’s loaded with stunning sandy beaches that the island is known for such as Playa Alcudia, one of Mallorca’s most beautiful blue-flag beaches.

Offering a luxurious-yet-relaxed Mediterranean vibe, 5-star Zafiro Palace Alcudia is an oasis in Port Alcúdia.

This stunning property offers four swimming pools – two outdoor and two indoor. One of the pools is designated for kids and is equipped with a pirate ship, while one of the indoor options is adults-only.

Children will enjoy hours of entertainment at the property’s Mini Club, offering arts & crafts, workshops, and dance programs. There’s also a playground as well as mini golf for the whole family to enjoy.

Babysitting/childcare services are also available at an additional charge.

Located next to a lovely cove, Mar Hotels Alcanada is part of the Mar Hotels collection.

This property offers two outdoor pools, one for children and one for adults. The children’s pool features a “Splash!” zone with slides.

There’s also a kids’ club featuring an exceptional entertainment staff.

3-star Mariner Club offers great family amenities on a budget. Family studios can host a maximum of three guests, while the apartments are suitable for four.

This condo-hotel features two swimming pools, children’s play areas both outdoors and indoors, and a game room.

Strollers and baby safety gates are also available to guests as needed.

• Picturesque old town perfect for family strolls
• Home to beautiful Jardins Rei Joan Carles, featuring kid-friendly walking paths
• Stunning scenery with plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures

Nestled amongst the hypnotizing Tramuntana mountains, Valldemossa is the perfect place to soak up that quintessential, old-world Spanish charm on the island.

As opposed to the Majorcan beach resorts that feature old towns, the entirety of Valldemossa is an old town bursting with charm. Families can get lost in a bygone era simply by wandering the charming cobblestone alleyways lined with brilliant flowers, admiring the honey-hued facades, and uncovering a delightful array of shops and cafés.

Valldemossa is also a nature-lover’s playground and perfect for active families who enjoy hiking and biking in the Great Outdoors.

For the ultimate luxury and exclusivity in the Tramuntana mountains, it’s hard to top the self-catering experience at stunning Villa Sestret By LeMón Holiday.

This 3-bedroom vacation home can be rented out in its entirety and is ideal for families seeking a private escape in one of Mallorca’s most stunning towns. Villa Sestret offers an outdoor pool with a dramatic view up a steep cliffside of the Tramuntanas. There’s also a lovely outdoor living space for soaking up the incredible surroundings.

Inside, families have access to a 2-level vacation hideaway with a full kitchen.

Offering views of both the mountains and sea, Bordoy Continental Valldemossa is a lovely 3-star option to consider.

This property offers an outdoor swimming pool that’s suitable for all ages.

Shaded by trees and featuring beautiful sea views, families will love this tranquil oasis in Valldemossa.

The smaller “sister” town to Valldemossa, Deia easily makes up for what it lacks in size in breathtaking scenery.

This intimate village nestled in the Tramuntana mountains serves as a muse to numerous artists and writers – including poet Robert Graves – who are inspired by its magnetic beauty. Personally, I was wholly mesmerized by Deia, which is now on my list of most beautiful places I’ve visited.

The village feels incredibly exclusive, yet quietly luxurious. Picture steep switchbacks through mind-bogglingly beautiful mountains, lemon trees draping over ravines, and an expansive valley that seems to stretch out for miles.

When you’ve had your fill of gushing over the Tramuntana mountain backdrop, take the kids for a fun family hike or wander the streets in search of the best photo opps.

The ultimate dream 5-star in the Tramuntana Mountains, La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel is in a league of its own when it comes to the best places to stay in Mallorca for families.

This prestigious 16th-century property looks like it could’ve been featured in the popular White Lotus television series. Set amidst fragrant lemon trees, a stay here is likely to be one to remember, particularly for families.

There are two pools – one outdoors and one indoors – that are open year-round.

Children can also enjoy everything from pottery to donkey tours at the hotel’s kids’ club.

Our stay at Hotels y Apartamentos DES PUIG was truly one of my favorites to date!

The highlight of this family-friendly property is, without a doubt, the stunning views overlooking the Tramuntana mountains that you’ll enjoy from the small outdoor pool.

The suites are also surprisingly spacious. The room set-up is conducive to creating privacy with built-in sliding doors that separate the main bedroom from a living area.

This lovely hotel caters to children and offers highchairs and cribs (pack-and-play style) upon request.

Finding this hidden boutique gem is no small feat, so I’ve laid out everything you’ll need to know.

First off, look for signs for Hotel Y Apartamentos DES PUIG along the main road, as this will be the first indication that you’re approaching the property. You may (or may not) spot these as you navigate the mountain switchbacks.

However, don’t expect to come across the hotel from this main road. It’s a recessed property (up a small hill), so you won’t see it straight away.

Instead, you’ll need to drive up a winding “driveway” of sorts, which you can access from the main road (look for a hotel sign).

Once you arrive at the front of the hotel, you won’t be able to enter without a key, so ring the bell located atop the speaker system for service.

During check-in, a hotel staff member should inform you about the gated parking lot designated exclusively for hotel guests at the bottom of the hill. Parking is not located next to the property, so you’ll need to hike back up the hill (or climb a steep staircase) to reach it again once you’ve parked.

If there are no spaces available in the hotel-specific lot, there’s a separate lot a few meters further down this road (it’s a bit overrun with grasses) where you can leave your car for the interim.

What was once a somewhat unassuming traditional fishing village, Port de Sóller is now a coastal hub for traveling families seeking a seaside escape. But in case you’re worried the town has lost some of its original charm, you’ll be happy to know it still boasts an active fishing community!

While Port de Sóller also features the beauty of the Tramuntana mountains like Valldemossa and Deia, it’s located at the bottom of the mountain range. The town spills out into a beautiful port lined with colorful boats.

By the way, this stunning coastal village can be easily reached by tram from the larger parent town of Sóller – more to come on that in an upcoming post!

With a quick look around, it’s easy to see Port de Sóller is perfect for kiddos, from the kid-friendly tram, to loads of family-friendly hotels and restaurants, to shallow beaches.

Perched atop a clifftop, Jumeirah Mallorca offers jawdropping views over the Port de Sóller and the Tramuntana mountains.

This 5-star offers three outdoor swimming pools, one of which is family-friendly and suitable for all ages.

There’s also a kids’ club, which is actually offered on a complimentary basis for up to two hours per day. Here, kids ages 3 – 12 can play both indoors and outdoors and enjoy everything from board games to arts and crafts.

Children can also help themselves to a kid-friendly buffet at one of the hotel’s wonderful restaurants.

There aren’t many mid-range (or budget) options to be had in Port de Sóller, but Hotel Es Port comes close and is simply too lovely not to mention.

Set amongst gorgeous Mediterranean gardens, this historic 4-star is housed within a 17th-century fortified mansion. While the Port de Sóller is just moments away, the tranquil surroundings are the perfect place to escape from the crowds.

There are two pools at the hotel – one that’s outdoors and suitable to all guests and one that’s indoors and exclusively for adults.

Families can enjoy a fun tennis match at one of the hotel’s three courts.

• Beautiful, blue-flag Cala Millor Beach features white sand and calm turquoise water

Another purpose-built resort that’s ideal for family getaways, Cala Millor is most popularly known for its stunning beach of the same name.

Beyond gorgeous Cala Millor Beach, the highlight for kids is Happy Park, where tiny travelers can ride on go-karts, jump in bouncy castles, and play a variety of fun games.

Families seeking a luxury stay in Cala Millor should look no further than Hipotels Hipocampo Palace.

This 5-star is well-suited to accommodate children, offering a playground, game room, and childcare services. There are also six tennis courts and lessons are offered for children.

The property is also home to three swimming pools, two outdoors (one specifically for kids) and one indoors.

Located along beautiful Cala Millor Beach, BLUESEA Anba Romaní is a no-frills 4-star option for families.

In addition to its family-friendly location by the sea, it also offers three swimming pools, two outdoors (one specifically for children) and one indoors.

Hotel Biniamar is located just along the promenade of Cala Millor Beach, an ideal locale for families traveling with kids.

The simple rooms offer a balcony and some even include sea views.

There are two outdoor swimming pools, one of which is designated for kids.

• Beautiful “Pine Walk” offers a shaded 2+-mile stretch for a relaxing family stroll
• Variety of family-friendly restaurants along the waterfront
• Activities are easy to reach on foot

One of the quieter resorts on the island, Puerto Pollensa sits amidst a horseshoe-shaped bay and offers a peaceful – yet fun – escape. It goes by several other names, including Puerto Pollenca and Port de Pollenca.

This lovely resort area is known for its long sandy beaches and variety of restaurants to accommodate families. Depending on the time of year you visit, you may be able to take advantage of the large inflatable playground that sits atop the water.

There are also two parks – one near the promenade and the other near the center of town.

Seafront Hoposa Uyal is a chic 4-star hotel located in beautiful Puerto Pollensa.

This propery includes two outdoor swimming pools, one for adults and one for all ages.

Babysitting services are available upon request.

Mar Calma Hotel is a 4-star boutique hotel with a distinctly trendy and urban vibe.

While there’s no pool at this family-friendly hotel, it’s ideally located less than a five-minute walk from beautiful Pollenca Beach.

Another pool-free accommodation, budget-friendly Hotel Sis Pins incorporates 50’s-style elements like colorful furnishings and checkered floors.

This family-friendly property is ideally located in the heart of Puerto Pollensa just a 5-minute walk from the beach.

It’s home to Capuccino Grand Cafè, a quirky and fun spot for the whole family.

• Touristy “Ting Ting” train is a hit with the kiddos
• Beautiful sandy beach with accompanying seaside promenade offers numerous restaurants and amenities for families
• Large swath of family-friendly accommodations

Located in the Bay of Alcúdia, the family-friendly seaside village of Can Picafort is a former-fishing-village-turned-resort.

The town offers numerous playgrounds, with the most impressive sitting directly along the Port of Can Picafort. There are also plenty of souvenir shops and points of interest along the promenade.

4-star Ferrer Concord Hotel & Spa is a beachfront property that overlooks the Bay of Alcúdia.

Some rooms feature sea views and private balconies.

There’s also an outdoor pool with sea views that’s suitable for all ages.

Younger guests will love the indoor play area and game room.

Set amidst a unique woodlands area, 4-star Exagon Park sits right up against a nature park, ideal for outdoorsy families.

The hotel’s special location is definitely its calling card, but it also offers an outdoor swimming pool that’s suitable for all guests as well as easy access to a sandy beach.

Baby safety gates and strollers are provided upon request.

3-star JS Ca’n Picafort is ideally located right along the Ca’n Picafort beachfront and just steps away from the main shopping action.

It offers a seasonal swimming pool for adults as well as one for children.

Families will love the multi-weekly entertainment offered at the hotel.
