If you fantasize about waking up in picturesque Positano but worry about the cost of such celebrity-esque accommodations, then I have some good news for you.

Believe it or not, there are some affordable boutique hotels in Positano – and you don’t have to sacrifice your dream of having a gorgeous view!

Trust me, I get it and I’ve been there. Finding the right hotel is one of the most important things to do in Positano. Location really is so key here, both in terms of navigating the steep landscape and in terms of finding a room with the postcard view you’ve been dreaming of! Plus, once you finally get to Positano, you’re going to want to just relax and soak up every minute.

In fact, I put off visiting for the longest time. Frankly, I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to find a reasonably-priced room with one of the best views in Positano (without having to harvest my organs or take out a second mortgage). Fortunately, I didn’t need to do either of those things (and neither will you).

Now, I’m not going to lie to you – many of these boutique hotels in Positano are #goals with premium price tags to match. After all, I couldn’t rightfully share the best places to stay in Positano and skip over all the Insta-famous spots that this beloved destination is known for!

That said, you’ll also find plenty of charming, no-frills accommodations here that may be more suitable to your current lifestyle. So whether you’re searching for Positano hotels with beach access, the best Positano hotels for families, or romantic B&Bs in Positano for a luxurious couple’s escape, you’ll find it all here!

Yes, it’s absolutely worth it to stay in Positano. Although the town is small and can be enjoyed as a day trip if time is short, you’ll have the best possible experience with an overnight stay.

For one, Positano is truly magical to witness at night, as the town comes alive with twinkling lights. It’s also quite peaceful and lovely in the early morning before the late-morning and mid-day crowds take hold. You’ll risk missing these opportune times to enjoy Positano if you don’t spend at least one night here.

Positano is relatively small, so two to three days will be plenty of time to see everything. If you’re on a limited schedule, there are still plenty of things to do in Positano in a day; but again, you’ll ideally want to spend at least one night here.

Although this question really depends on who you ask, most people will agree that it’s best to stay near the beach. The reason for this is that Positano is situated atop an incredibly steep landscape with many stairwells to climb. Finding a property near the water means you can enjoy beach time without stressing about the daunting climbs there and back.

However, pricing in Positano is largely based on the location of your hotel, so expect to pay more the closer you are to the water.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to save some cash and don’t mind the extra steps, selecting a hotel that’s located higher up will offer you some of the best views in Positano.

Ultimately, you really can’t go wrong no matter where you position yourself – it really just comes down to how much you’re willing to spend and how much of a dealbreaker the climbs are (or aren’t).

This largely depends on how you plan your trip, but Positano definitely isn’t the cheapest destination in Italy. Similar to travelers who stay at the boutique hotels in Taormina, Sicily, people tend to visit Positano when they’re in search of a luxury experience. Fortunately, there are still a handful of boutique hotels in Positano that won’t break the bank – and they still offer wonderful views.

Most likely, the majority of your money will go toward enjoying some of the best restaurants in Positano, as takeaway options are slim (and cooking is generally off the table).

While a pool is definitely a factor to consider when deciding where to stay in Positano, it’s more of a bonus than a necessity. Given that the town is ideally situated on the Amalfi Coast, there are plenty of beaches in Positano you can enjoy, so you won’t be without water.

That said, if you’re willing to pay a little extra for one of the luxurious hotels in Positano with a pool, it can definitely add to your experience, especially if relaxation is a top priority.

I was so happy when I first discovered Villa Maria Antonietta. A charming and affordable hotel with a view – and only a ten-minute walk to Spiaggia Grande? Count me in!

While I’m classifying it as one of the best 3-star boutique hotels in Positano, this family-run property is technically one of a few Positano bed and breakfasts. So if you’re looking for a homey stay where you’ll be treated like part of the family, this may just be the place for you.

My husband and I felt very taken care of by hotel managers Carla and Giuseppe here, from the initial confirmation before check-in until our check-out. In fact, on our final day, we quietly slipped out around 3AM to catch a taxi to the airport and didn’t inform the hosts (since there was no one at the desk at that time).

The next day, we got a very friendly (and somewhat disappointed) message informing us that the B&B could’ve had our morning coffee waiting for us – at 3AM, mind you – if we’d told them we were leaving! The hospitality here was really top-notch.

Villa Maria Antonietta features traditional Italian-style rooms with spacious balconies. I was seriously impressed with the size of our balcony. Plus, the cliffside view was even better than I’d anticipated! This was “our spot” during our time in Positano; my husband and I enjoyed sitting out here each night of our three-night stay.

Given the bed-and-breakfast setup, you won’t find a front desk person at all hours of the day here. However, you’ll receive friendly, personalized service beginning early in the morning until around sunset.

As a B&B, breakfast is included in your stay. While the breakfast is very simple – a croissant and coffee/tea – it’s convenient to have something before heading out for the day. Plus, you can also enjoy a beautiful view from the breakfast patio, which you can access via the staircase off of the front office.

I also wanted to mention that we noticed tiny ants in our bathroom during our September stay. While they were harmless and not at all bothersome, I’m sharing about it in case it’s an issue for you.

(Also, I’m not entirely sure if this is something unique to the property or if it’s a general thing you’ll experience in Positano during the late summer/early fall.)

Another one of the charming 3-star boutique hotels in Positano to consider is Alcione Residence.

This hotel is also conveniently located just a 10-minute walk to the beach and 200 meters from the main pedestrian road, Via Cristoforo Colombo.

Each of the eight Mediterranean-style rooms is spacious and airy. Plus, all are equipped with private terraces and beautiful sea views.

A breakfast consisting of sweet pastries and coffee is included in the cost of your stay. In addition, savory breakfast items are available upon request for an additional charge.

Hotel Eden Roc offers a beautiful panorama for guests to enjoy Positano’s unspoiled seaside location.

Just steps from the main shopping center and less than a 10-minute walk to the beach, Hotel Eden Roc features 25 superior suites in its main building.

In addition, guests looking for additional privacy may wish to book one of the three annex suites.

Hotel Eden Roc is home to Adamo Ed Eva, one of the top-rated restaurants in Positano. From appetizers, to pasta, to fish and meat dishes, to dessert, you won’t go hungry here!

In addition, hotel guests can start the day with the included tasty breakfast buffet, consisting of fresh pastries and breads, eggs, meats and cheeses, breakfast cereals, and yogurts.

Guests can also take advantage of the on-site gym, including a Turkish bath, hot tub, and sauna.

Hotel Eden Roc is located at Via G. Marconi, 110, 84017 Positano SA.

Once a private villa, Hotel Villa Gabrisa is now a beautiful 4-star hotel that still maintains its intimate and exclusive feel.

This lovely hotels includes 12 rooms, many of which feature sea views.

The junior suite is especially luxurious, featuring a hot tub overlooking the sea!

Although Villa Gabrisa is located a bit higher on the hill (which involves a 15-minute walk down to the beach), it’s conveniently adjacent to a local bus stop. From here, you can catch a bus down to the beach (and avoid the arduous climb back up again).

The hotel includes an on-site restaurant, Da Gabrisa, featuring local cuisine and stunning views.

Breakfast is included in the cost of the stay and can be enjoyed from the terrace.

Lunch: 12:30PM – 3PM
Dinner: 7PM – 11PM

 Da Gabrisa restaurant is open seasonally from April to October.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa is located at Viale Pasitea, 223, 84017 Positano SA.

Buca di Bacco is one of the highly-coveted Positano hotels on the beach. Just a one-minute walk down to the water, Hotel Buca di Bacco is perched atop the most famous beach in Positano, Spiaggia Grande.

It’s hard to beat a beach location like this, especially if you enjoy being in the heart of the action when you travel.

This 46-room property offers a majority of sea-facing rooms and a few comfort rooms sans views.

Buca di Bacco is also home to a top-rated restaurant. It features a sea view terrace and specializes in delicious seafood dishes.

A sweet and savory breakfast buffet including bacon and eggs comes with the stay.

Another beautiful property set just one minute from the beach, Hotel Marincanto is in the heart of it all, just steps away from the best shops and eateries.

Yet another one of the boutique hotels in Positano that enjoys a privileged position near the water, Hotel Poseidon is just a two-minute walk to the beach.

All of the property’s 48 rooms are decorated in a traditional Mediterranean style, but each room maintains its own unique décor and aesthetic.

With the exception of the standard double rooms facing in toward the garden, all other rooms offer a private panoramic terrace with beautiful cliffside and sea views.

One of the best features of Hotel Poseidon is Il Tridente, the hotel’s elegant rooftop restaurant with an impressive panoramic terrace.

In addition, Hotel Poseidon also has a small outdoor swimming pool on the terrace as well as a wellness center with a relaxing Turkish bath carved into the rocks.

Some rooms even offer sea views and the luxury of a balcony hot tub for the ultimate experience.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to up the privacy factor, you may wish to consider a stay at Punta Re, the hotel’s exclusive guest house. You’ll find this intimate property located about a 20-minute walk from Hotel Punta Regina.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast of freshly baked breads, meats, and cheeses on the terrace overlooking the sea. Drinks and snacks from the bar are also available during the daytime.

In addition, those wishing to unwind can do so from the relaxation pool on the main terrace.

While this family-run property is removed from the vibrant town squares, guests can enjoy solitude without sacrificing the seductive surroundings of perfect Positano.

Situated near the Piazza dei Mulini and about three minutes from Spiaggia Grande beach, Hotel Savoia offers an ideal location, provided you don’t mind the main road position.

This 39-room hotel has been family-run for the past three generations, offering guests a personal touch.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast from Ristorante D’Aiello. Drinks and light snacks are also available throughout the day from the bar.

Located 15 minutes from the city center and just three minutes from the beach, Hotel Conca d’Oro Positano is a lesser-known gem.

Each of the 42 rooms at Hotel Conca d’Oro offer beautiful sea views and an elegant atmosphere.

Looking to enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner with your loved one? Orama Seaview Restaurant is just the place. From April until October, guests can enjoy an unforgettable dining experience on the sea-view terrace while watching the sun go down. 

There’s also a cold breakfast buffet served daily.

In addition, guests can enjoy a relaxing soak in the hotel’s mini pool jacuzzi, located on the terrace.

Hotel Conca d’Oro Positano is located at Via Boscariello, 84017 Positano SA.

Le Sirenuse is like the Holy Grail of boutique hotels in Positano – it’s where everyone wants to be. Chances are, you’ve seen this iconic hotel circulating on Instagram; it’s practically the influencer capital of Positano.

Even though it’s only a 5-minute walk from the beach, you may be tempted to just stay at the hotel and soak in the pool – and soak up the amazing view!

Le Sirenuse has 58 unique and spacious rooms and suites, most of which have balconies and/or sea views.

In addition to the amazing pool, Le Sirenuse also boasts Michelin-starred restaurant La Sponda, featuring a sea view terrace in addition to an oyster bar. (I mean, would you expect any less?)

You can also treat yourself to the ultimate pampering with a spa day (or two) at the hotel’s wellness center. Here, you can enjoy everything from a Hammam, to a sauna, to a post-travel massage.

Unfortunately, pets aren’t permitted and the hotel isn’t suitable for children under six.

It’s also one of the rare gems in Positano that can be accessed directly from the road with minimal effort. That’s because this luxury boutique resort is located along the San Giovanni steps in the heart of Positano.

So if you’re looking to avoid steep climbs and endless stairways, this is definitely one to consider.

Located in the lively Punta Reginella neightborhood, the resort is only a 10-minute walk from Fornillo Beach, the quieter cousin of Spiaggia Grande. In addition, it’s a short downhill climb from the property into the center of town.

Villa Magia includes seven levels of spacious accommodations, all with private terraces and stunning sea views.

Guests can also take advantage of not just one, but two pools on the property as well as dine at the hotel restaurant and/or tapas bar.

Il San Pietro di Positano is located at Via Laurito, 2, 84017 Positano SA.

One of the small luxury hotels of the world, Hotel Villa Franca Positano is a hilltop getaway for those looking to escape the crowds.

But not to worry – despite the property’s privileged position, guests can take advantage of complimentary shuttle rides to and from the town.

With elegant rooms and suites sprinkled throughout two villas, all accommodations are spacious, featuring modern décor and generous balconies.

Guests can dine at either of the property’s two main eateries, Li Galli Restaurant for gourmet dishes or O’RO Incanto Lounge Bar & Osteria for traditional Campanian cuisine.
