Visiting Bruges, Belgium was like stepping back in time and entering a living, breathing fairytale. Just when I thought I couldn’t love this storybook village any more, we checked into the exquisite Pand Hotel.
The perfect combination of new world luxury and old world charm, it’s easy to see why this special property has earned its place among “Small Luxury Hotels of the World.”
Here’s a look into the unforgettable experience my husband and I enjoyed at The Pand Hotel.
Hotel History
Once an 18th century carriage house, this privately-run hotel property is luxurious while still maintaining the intimate comforts of home.
It was transformed into the cozy, 26-bedroom hotel you see today and elegantly decorated with valuable antiques and unique artwork to create a timeless and cozy atmosphere.
Location
I was pleased to find that The Pand Hotel was in a truly prime location with easy access to the city’s surroundings.

Located just twenty meters from the famous canals, the property sits on a quiet, charming, tree-lined street.

In a matter of moments, you could exit the hotel, walk about thirty steps, and be standing at one of the most picturesque spots in all of Bruges.
One of my favorite views in the city, this dreamy spot by the canal was made famous by the movie, In Bruges.

The hotel is also only a six-minute walk to the famous Markt.

This is the main tourist hotspot that features restaurants, eateries, and the famous medieval bell tower, the Belfry of Bruges.

First Impressions
Upon entering The Pand Hotel, I was immediately wowed by the striking chandelier and the beauty of the lobby.

A helpful staff member welcomed us and was happy to show us a map of the city, pointing out each of the main attractions.
After check-in, the hotel staff assisted us with our luggage and we took an elevator upstairs to our room.
The Room
As soon as we entered our suite, I knew we made a good decision to stay here. Not only was it spacious, but we also had a gorgeous four poster bed with Ralph Lauren linens, a comfortable sitting area, and so many beautiful windows letting in tons of natural light.

The view was everything I could have wished for in Bruges; I seriously felt like I was living in a storybook.

After looking around a bit, a helpful staff member came by to drop off our luggage and answer any questions.
As soon as he left, I noticed a friendly welcome note and two chocolates that were left for us from the General Manager.

The chocolates were absolutely delicious – my favorite one had marzipan in it!
The bathroom was absolutely perfect and I enjoyed a wonderful soak in the tub that first night.

I also love that the hotel included a turn down service.
We were out at dinner when it happened, but when we returned to our room, we found a note card on our bed with the next day’s weather and two little chocolates.

I felt very taken care of at this hotel and no detail was amiss.
Amenities & Services
After our first night, we woke up to the most incredible champagne breakfast spread I’ve seen in real life. It was hand-delivered to our room and was so massive it could have fed about four people!

The spread included two different types of juices, champagne, croissants, rolls, eggs served on individual platters, fresh fruit, yogurt, meats, and cheeses.
I was full enough for two meals after we ate!
In addition to a delicious breakfast, The Pand Hotel offers its guests plenty of opportunities for comfort and relaxation in their beautiful library, lounges complete with a cozy fireplace, and charming old-world bar.
Each of these areas is decorated in the style of an old English mansion and is complete with art, collectibles, and charming wood paneling.

If you’re looking for a relaxing storybook stay to complete your trip to Bruges, you can’t go wrong with The Pand Hotel.
